Windows Movie Maker is free but you get >oh so much more for steal of $99 with either of these: Actually you can do better by downloading a freebie program called VirtualDub. I believe you can even find it on SourceForge.net but I know you can find it on places like CNET. It works with just about any form of video except MP4, Quicktime MOV, Windows Media and any version of RealSpyware. Saves as an AVI file, which can be used by just about anything including PSP Video 9 (which is what I use to make MP4 videos). Why PAY for something you can get for free?? Embedded Windows Media & Blogger

April 23, 2005 | Post #9853 | Topic #9853

Hi everyone: I'm trying to embed a Windows Media viewer on my video blog page, but suffice to say it's not going well at all (in fact, it's an utter disaster!). :( The page I'm trying to set up the video is at http://patsvideoblog.blogspot.com/ What am I doing wrong? What I want to do is feature the Windows Media version of my video on the page, but offer a link to the Quicktime MP4 for Mac users and portable devices and such with a link to the topic on my board and a brief summary of what the video is about. I checked the code with the HTML Generator at http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php and except for a minor (yet obvious) code error where the beginning of the code for external player link was before the embedded viewer (with the link itself and the end of the external player link code being near the bottom), everything looked OK. I even tested it with the TEST MEDIA option. No problem there. I'm bamboozled as to what the problem could be. Maybe someone in the community can help? Cheers for now :) Patrick Cook kpdcnettv@... patsvideoblog@... One question though. Where is everyone getting that cool looking Quicktime skin that goes around the picture? Is that a screen capture you guys are doing or what? Looks all too common to be one though. Is there a website that I can go to to get that? I'm curious as that would be the quintessential ohh so cool touch to my video blog. :) Cheers for now :) Patrick Cook kpdcnettv@... patsvideoblog@... Hi everyone: As I mentioned before, I'm giving up on trying to embed Windows Media video on my Blogger Page and have decided to go with MP4 instead. Have a couple videos up online (one I created and another I found on the web). Also have a FeedBurner URL. All the information is in my sig below. Feel free to add my feed to the ANT OPML file if you would like. :) Now I think I'm gonna get some shut eye before I zonk out over at the keyboard. :) Cheers for now :) Patrick Cook kpdcnettv@... patsvideoblog@... The answer is do not use ><http://www.archive.org/download>www.archive.org/download because it will >return the file as text/html instead of video/x-ms-wmv. No. What you do is search for your video on the IA website. If it's listed, that means it's available for download. If it is available for download, click on the link provided and that will take you to the web page that has the direct link to your video. Copy the direct link to your RSS Feed or blog and it will be valid. Trust me on this one Nate. I've done almost 10 podcasts and two video blogs this way and it's worked EACH & EVERY time. The one drawback you *may* have is that if you use Feedburner for your RSS URL as well (like I do), it'll probably take Feedburner a little while to update itself but it will work. Hope this helps. :) Cheers for now everyone :) Patrick Cook kpdcnettv@... patsvideoblog@...
