Forgive me, but….
I really had good intentions with starting from the beginning of the messages.. but after the first 20 or so, I got impatient! ;-) I'm completely *new* to this whole concept (and thrilled to have discovered it!)... and have spent hours trying to get to the bottom of the whole thing.. so if I'm repeating anything that's already been discussed.. ooops... sorry! After downloading vBlog Central's software, starting a vBlog (without any initial video -yet) and doing some more digging around.. I came across: http://www.VideoAddon.com This seems to be a Macromedia Flash 'playerless' embedded option that doesn't take up nearly as much bandwidth. Okay - I 'get' that. However, my curiosity has led me to wonder if the person who started the service is a Video Hosting Provider 'reseller' or just one smart cookie. (?) Nonetheless, it seems a more streamlined option, right? I attended the Streaming Media, Inc. West conference in California last year ... and became mesmerized by Serious Magic's "Visual Communicator". It seemed so easy (and it is)! Unfortunately, the webcam (Creative) I got doesn't seem to jive with it.. and truthfully, my life has been a total rollercoaster for the last year and I never got to really utilize (or learn)the software. Sigh. Now I'm all perched on the edge of my seat over Video Blogging. Wow! Anyway, anyone got the dirt on the above website? Thanks, Courtney [View]

I started to get a typepad account today.. but had just done a blog on blogger, so held off. No server space. So one doesn't have to go through a Video Hosting Provider (?) As I said, I am clueless as to how all this works. I've got Win XP Pro which has Windows Movie Maker, of course. Then I have Visual Communicator - which I just love, but haven't had the chance to use yet as my vid. cam. driver isn't working properly with the software. (boo hoo) As for editing.. I haven't gotten that far yet. So, are you saying one can just post video without all the hoopla? Whoo hooo! I love this group! :-D It's chocked full of info. (and by the way, I *liked* Rocketboom! ;-) I know it's format is based on anchoring a newscast.. but kudos to Amanda for her vlogs. I especially liked the one from her bed. :-D ) Courtney [View]
I just took a peek at Amanda's entry for today. Too frickin' funny! Chris Christmas Rodriquez.. hahahahha Meanwhile, she had an entry one day of some old commercials. (at least I *think* they were 'for real' commercials..maybe no)... but that leads me to ask the question, "How are some people able to post videos containing other stuff?" Like, where did she get today's bit, for instance? Just wondering... And has anyone noticed the buzz online about the FCC eyeing Satellite Radio? I mean, I know they just gave commercial stations the go-ahead to broadcast digital radio - but will they start sniffing around the internet at video, too? Boo hiss.... (http://www.wired.com/news/mp3/0,1285,55706,00.html) I hope they don't try to place restrictions on Satellite... the 'Net could be next.. ugh. Courtney [View]
Well, it 'came' to me a few years ago that there would be a 'second' Internet (?) that would be faster (?)... I see that the government is creating their *own* Internet for the troops so they can download stuff in the field, etc. (get satellite photos of strike zones, etc.) but if the FCC - or corporations, as you suggest - try to hijack the 'Net... could there be another version (a secondary Internet) that might spawn itself. I mean, how far off are we from Iran with the 'control' (censorship) thinking ... as I just read Iran is going to switch the Internet users to the government controlled version and *then* plan to totally block all citizens from even having access at all. Sheesh! Is nothing sacred? But I digress... ;-) Courtney --- In firstname.lastname@example.org, Christopher Weagel <humandog@c...> wrote: > > On Nov 19, 2004, at 11:22 AM, courtwms777 wrote: > > > And has anyone noticed the buzz online about the FCC eyeing Satellite > > Radio? I laugh.. Ha Ha!
... and my own ignorance... As I scanned the last few messages, I came away with the word "Bittorent".... so.. I googled it... Then I thought it was Bit-To-Rent (which still didn't make sense to me... but whatever)... Then I saw it was Bittorrent (2 r's) on the actual website, although the URL still used only 1 'r'. Finally (after not being able to read German in the sign-in window that popped up), I returned to the group to reread the messages (looking for 'how-to-get-inside-Bittorrent') and found that it's all about "Bit Torrents"... still ... Huh? :-S Crap. I am clueless. What the heck is all this stuff? I'm barely just 'getting' RSS feeds. And if one can post video to the web 'for free', why does one need a TypePad account as opposed to Blogger? Perhaps there should be a 'kindergarten' for vlogging hopefuls.. and I'm completely ignorant of the majority of these terms and processes. Help me out people! Can't someone already in the know post a simple easy to follow (and as Deirdre suggested she might write a Video Blogging for Dummies guide) process? I know there's all kinds of already put out there bits.. but, man! Why can't someone just put it all in ... well... a how-to-vlog!?! ;-) I can't even sign my name to this post from embarrassment....so, it's a.k.a. Clueless [View]
I correct myself…
Oh brother... I just wrote another post and instead of hitting 'submit' I hit Post and it went POOF! I was trying to say that I realize that http://www.videoblogging.info exists and was asking the group to 'forgive' my previous post.. as due to my own impatience, I was looking for the easy-way-out. Sigh. I guess the only thing to do is park my butt and read every aspect of the videoblogging.info site and go from there.. But still.. a point-by-point (in a video format) would be really helpful, I should think... (still) Clueless [View]
Really, thanks Josh, Jay, Michael and Deidre :-) I appreciate the full low-down and scoop. I'll take a peek at your link, Deidre, after I post this. As for my 'equipment': PC laptop/Win XP Pro (so I have Win Movie Maker) Creative Vid/Cam for laptops (mini Direct Show driver) Visual Communicator Pro by Serious Magic (and they advertise on their website how 'great' this is for Video Blogging!) I'm having problems with my little camera, however - as it isn't jiving with Visual Communicator and sometimes doesn't even 'register' an image, even when plugged into a USB port (?) and green light shows it is ON. Anyway, off to read over some of your links.. I'll check back in! Thanks again :-) Courtney (a.k.a. Clueless....) [View]
I'm just wondering... If one can post to one's blog via email... Is it possible to post video via Video email? I know comcast.net has free video email service for its customers, so am curious to know if this would 'work'(?) It'd be another interesting avenue for vloggers... (unless this has been discussed before and I'm unaware of that). However, the video email pops up in a comcast viewer box - but maybe the URL to each email could be posted.. I wonder if one can save it to their server? Anyone? :-) Courtney [View]
I just made my first frickin' movie!!!! And I'm sitting here all exciting, thinking "Shit! I wish I had someone to tell!" ..... Then I realized... I can tell YOU GUYS!!! :-D I'm waiting for it to download (save) to my computer. It's something I did for my friend in Portugal who is an electronic recording artist (okay okay - so we've 'beefed' up his *title* ha ha) to put one of his tracks to one of his photos and I repeated it in Movie Maker and put an 'effect' on it that is just PERFECT and it's over 4 mins. long - but whatever! I got to create a title and credits and the whole 9. Whooo hooooo! My first music video. Of course, it's just an experiment.. and it's a one take thing (first try and all)... but *still*!!! I'm soooo HAPPY!!!!!!!!! Now.. to figure out if I can put in on a vlog... :-) Courtney [View]

WHoo hooooo!!! I DID IT!!! I'm going WILD with thoughts of all the possibilities! I had to get a Typepad account, because I tried downloading the files from CC Publisher and my computer wouldn't open them saying it didn't know in what program it was created.. oh what the hell.. I gave up and signed up for Typepad, so I could just get the freakin' thing online! And besides *that*, it turns out that Windows XP Movie Maker is easy as PIE to use! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Okay - here's the link to my *new* vlog!!! http://tonbo.typepad.com/tonbo_tv/ I'm a VLOGGER!!!!!! (well, or maybe a music video maker) ;-) It's over 4 minutes long, and I did it more as a vehicle for the track than anything - but please listen all the way to the end so you can see my first attempt making 'Credits'! :-D I might overlay some words when I edit the video...and we're looking for additional images, too. But for today's experiment... and I know it's not an actual 'vlog' in the true sense of the word.. so be kind. Meanwhile, I spent 12 hours yesterday redesigning our little record label website, but couldn't get the HTML code (that I keyed in to change the body text font on the home page) to 'take'.. so still needs work: http://tonborecords.com http://jax.tonborecords.com (the 'artist's' homepage) :-) Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Thanks everyone!!!! Courtney [View]
Talk about making a faux pas! I did my new video to the *wrong track*! My friend sent the right track, but I inserted the wrong one by mistake (or not).. but added some 'words' to some of the frames so they just pop up.. heh heh heh.. too fun and FUNNY! Actually, I like this track even better with the image... Good grief! So thanks, Steve, for your comment .. but maybe you'll have another listen to the 'right' track ;-) What fun.. I haven't had this much fun in I don't know how long. I haven't eaten in hours and hours and I've been glued to the laptop since 5 a.m.! :-) Court [View]
How do you get the player inside the vlog body of the post?! Now that I've posted the first vlog, I just realized it's a link to a download... But how does one get those little player images inside? Courtney [View]
Thanks, Steve! I'll try that out after I doctor a snap to upload. U DA MAN!!! That was completely incredible! What a piece of work... loved the entire thing and the concept is really believable - which is frickin' scary :-S Thanks for posting that link, Eric! Thanks, Ed, for the tip! Of course, the bit on the page about "make sure you fill in the path to your server"... uh... where does that go? I feel like I'm missing 999 pieces from a 1,000 piece puzzle! :-S Ah, well... one must learn somehow... Andreas, I clicked on the download link...and AOL's media player came up with just a magnified picture of your webpage text (?) and no movie.. but audio was of Steve's podcast (?) Just FYI... Blogger vs. Typepad
I have a Blogger account, but couldn't figure out how to post video to it (well, I really did look into as it was suggested I get a Typepad account).. but I see that Steve Garfield's vSpan blog is chocked full of video. Hmmmm... I mean, I'm glad I signed on with Typepad and all.. but what is the procedure to post video to Blogger? Is it any different from uploading a .wmv file like I did on Typepad? Uh... I guess I could poke around Blogger 'help' for the answer... but just thought I'd pose the question here. ;-) Thanks! (once again, forgive my ignorance!) Courtney [View]
Re: Blogger vs. Typepad
Wow, Eric, thanks for the tip!! I wish I'd known that before I signed up for Typepad.. but since I *am* on a 30 day free trial.. maybe I'll switch! When are you starting your reseller program?
