I watched the video to see how lame it really was. And I sorta got distracted by a few things. For example: god, I love that farmers market we always buy flowers there and take em back home, and how I remember never getting sick of driving onto the auto ferry, and damn I missed being a tourist since it's been a few years since I spent more time than just a single day there, and btw, I haven't seen Maryam since Northern Voice, it was good to see her again, and it seemed like you both were having fun, oh and thanks for the starbucks imagery, I had to go brew coffee (like watching people smoke in movies does it for me), and yeah I don't really blog on the weekends, and you are leaving your link blog for more important things, like goofing off with your family. on. the. weekends. and. doing. stuff. like. this? It was like chillin' out with you (and I've chilled out with you in real life), except it's 1 am and the week ahead is maddening and I wonder what you'll be posting next. Where was the lame, again? ;-) --- In videoblogging@yahoogroups.com, "Robert Scoble" <robertscoble@h...> wrote: > I just published my first lame tourist video to Ourmedia. Idea for one day during vlog week…

By Eric Rice | "Eric Rice" <eric@...> | ericrice
March 28, 2005 | Post #8289 | Topic #8289

Free idea: During videoblogging week, couldn't we take one day to videoblog ourselves teaching someone new about videoblogging? I'm personally trying this out in a unique way: I'm actually vlogging in a different space: on Myspace.com. It's not a typical blog/pod/vlog -osphere. I will be putting up some vids for ANT/Mefeedia users. My blog over there is: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm? fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=6596977 And if that link doesn't work, you can access my profile here: http:// profiles.myspace.com/users/13193957 If you happen to be a Myspace user, ping me. :-) Best, Eric http://www.ericrice.com [View]

Podcast & Videoblog Hotel, July 15-17, 2005

March 28, 2005 | Post #8290 | Topic #8290

Hi folks, I'm re-posting this on behalf of my colleague Alex Williams from Corante. He's putting together a very cool thing called "Podcast Hotel", which is set in this re-styled retro hotel, where rooms are being vacated of beds and transformed into session rooms. There's a stage-like thing in the courtyard. He's also putting much effort into the getting strong videoblogging representation, and has asked me to emcee a videoblog showcase/festival of sorts, of which I'm honored to host. There will be more conversation about this as the weeks go on, especially on figuring out how to get folks who aren't able to make it to Portland to be as present as possible. Feel free to e-mail either Alex (alex@corante) or myself (eric@ericrice) with questions. I hope everyone has a chance to take part. Cuz ya know, west coast in July? mmmm mmm good. -Eric Here's his original post: -- Hi, all -- We're doing the Podcast Hotel, July 15-17. Julian, Harold -- that's exactly what we want to do. Create an event at a hotel that doesn't just take place in Portland, Or., but in London, NYC, etc. We're just getting info up about what we are trying to achieve. You can see it at: http://www.corante.com/podcasting. More info to come soon. The idea is to turn the hotel into a studio. Get on bikes and podcast. Turn rooms into studios. Play music and podcast it. Make Portland and the... [View]

FYI: WordPress banned from Google?

http://slashdot.org/articles/05/03/31/196220.shtml?tid=217 "Wordpress, an incredibly popular Open Source Blogging system was found to be spamming google by inserting hidden links to junk content on high paying Adsense keywords such as mesothelioma and debt consolidation. Following Threadwatch picking up the story an anonymous Google rep appeared in the original thread admonishing bloggers not to use sneaky tactics to rank highly for "duplicate content" such as the 100,000 hidden articles on the Wordpress site. The articles have now dissapeared from Google and it remains to be seen whether Google will ban Wordpress outright as they tend to do when SEO's and web dev's pull these kinds of stunts." [View]

Microsoft, bring back Windows Media Encoder for Mac

Robert, You and I have already had this conversation, and I'll just post it again with an appropriate title for the list. Let the Media team know that we'd like WME back. For OS X. As a Mac guy (and part of the majority of video creators who use Mac), I'm personally not opposed to Windows Media. In fact, I'd be creating WMV more frequently, and for a variety of Windows-powered devices. I'd still make Quicktime too, and amusingly (well embarassingly), Real isn't even part of this conversation. Real *who* ? Y'all should like that. If you have a lead to that team, if they wanna chat, give 'em my number. I'll evangelize it! ER PS. The few WMV files that don't hose my Mac are the ones Channel 9 puts out. But then again, I got a couple Ch9 Foamies standing guard above my head. (Also posted in the podcasters group) I'm not one to do the hard sell, so if you want to try out the podcasting and videoblog tools we've had out for a while, feel free to stop on by and kick the tires. It's a seven day free trial (offer expires at the end of April). For vloggers, we currently support AVI uploads, which I have been personally taking off my Canon digital camera as well as exporting from iMovie.
