hi all on my blog: how to make a full screen QuickTime movie. http://hyper= text.rmit.edu.au/vog/vlog/vlog_archive/000439.html (btw wrote this while w= atching tv so please let me know if i've left somethign out!) There are = several ways you can make a full screen QuickTime movie, though quite a fe= w of them require additional tools (such as Cleaner, <a href=3D"http://www= .totallyhip.com/products.html">Livestage Pro</a>, and the like). However, = one simple way is to use QuickTime Pro, which yes, does cost money, but as= I've written about here regularly, it provides access to a lot of very us= eful things (easy MPEG4 compression, simple editing, making poster movies,= adding text tracks, and so on). So, this is how you can make a QuickTime = list movie that will let people play your movie full screen: 1. make you= r movie (however you normally do this) 2. upload your movie to your webser= ver 3. open QuickTime player and open your movie in QuickTime Player 4. D= o not open the movie directly but open via the Web (you need to do this so= that when the qtl file is made it has the correct URL) 5. Make sure the m= ovie doesn't start playing at it is at the beginning of your movie 6. Sel= ect File export 7. In the resulting window select Movie to QuickTime Media= Link, and click the Options button 8. The following window contains vari= ous parameters that can be set. These are all the same things that can be = done via the embed tag (pretty much) but they will end up embedded in the = qtl file. 9. The first URL field should contain the URL of the video (wher= e it resides online) 10. In type enter movie/quicktime, this is mime type= information 11. You can ignore Name and ID, these are for intermovie comm= unication 12. Volume lets you set a volume (which can be varied if the con= troller is visible) 13. Autoplay means the movie will start playing as so= on as it is able 14. Loop lets you set whether the movie returns to the be= ginning and plays again, or not (not useful if you've gone full screen) 1= 5. The fullscreen drop down menu has the options we're interested in, make= your choice 16. Don't select playeveryframe, this will mute your soundtra= ck (QuickTime needs to drop frames to maintain sync) 17. If you've select= ed full screen then there will be no controller no matter what you select = for controller 18. Quit when done means QuickTime player will quit when th= e movie is finished and return your visitor to their browser (seriously us= eful if you've selected a full screen mode) 19. QT next is only if you wa= nt to load a second film after the first 20. HREF is for a url which will = be the destination if the movie is clicked on while it is playing 21. Onc= e you've made your choices click OK 22. Name your file as somename.qtl = Place the qtl file on your webserver and then include a link to it on your= webpage. Ideally write a text link that points to the qtl file, for examp= le <a href=3D"somefilename.qtl">play my movie full screen</a> and voil=E0.= next week I'll write a follow up including how to embed an image and mak= e it do the same thing, and a simpler way of doing the above... cheers Ad= rian Miles ................................................................= . hypertext.rmit || hypertext.rmit.edu.au/adrian interactive networked vide= o || hypertext.rmit.edu.au/vog research blog || hypertext.rmit.edu.au/vog/v= log/
