> what's stopping it? > first, let's list the obstructions. - Bandwidth, u= pdstream and down. Let's do some stats: what bandwidth does everyone in thi= s group have? I have DSL, I think 650 kbps downstream, much less than that = upstream. Upstream becomes important when you want to post video in a hurry= - my little 5 MB video files take about 5 minutes to post. - Bandwidth fo= r sharing. We're in a weird catch-22 where, if our videos actually become p= opular, we end up paying for others to see them (Steve, you must be taking = a huge hit? Or are Fox viewers incapable of finding you online? <grin>). Th= e economics of this is backwards - if you're providing incentive for someon= e to use bandwidth, the bandwidth provider should be kissing your feet, not= charging you! - Ease of use. It's too hard right now, too many formats to= know about, too many different bits of software you have to use (if you do= it my way). - Cost. Presumably we're all paying for bandwidth, one way o= r another. What is reasonable to pay beyond that? - Publicity. You're doi= ng video because you want people to see it. How do you let people know it's= there? best regards, Deirdr=E9 Straughan http://www.straughan.com
