> - Publicity. You're doing video because you want people to see it. How > do you let people know it's there? you nailed all the obstacles on the head. --bandwidth and storage is a problem that could be fixed with setting up our own server. servers are fairly cheap but just takes organization. Peter has done research into this and its doable. he's even figured out a way that limits bandwidth depending on how much bandwidth a particularly popular video is using. --we do need an all-in-one videoblogging tool that edits, compresses, and posts. until this happens, videobloggibg is for the geeks or very commited artists. Peter says he can imagine a browser based tool: a SMIL editor, an opensource and server-side compressor, and a blog tool. this way anyone could videoblog from any kind of computer, mac/PC. --as far as publicity, I think it's a process. First we need video to advertise. Many people in the group are just beginning to post video, if at all. but the good thing is we're building a community here. we're still asking the most basic questions and answering them by DOING it. The DANE has been posting video once a week for 4 years. he seems to have gathered a pretty good crowd. if you build it, they will come. mad corny but true. -- Jay Dedman Manhattan Neighborhood Network 537 West 59th NY NY 10019 212 757 2670 ext.312 http://www.mnn.org
