On at least some blogs, leaving a comment means you have to sign= up, which is an extra step needed before you make that spur-of-the-moment = comment. Many people worry a lot about privacy and don't want their names o= ut there any more than they have to be; they reserve their memberships to t= he things they really want. > One reason I think that people post comment= s to this email list, is > that we know that they will be read by everyone= . And we're all already members here, so it's easy for any of us to drop a= quick reply, like this one. <shrug> Not everyone is as motivated to commu= nicate as we are. I get a lot of traffic on my website, much of it repeats = (I'm assuming, since I seem to be in many people's favorites list), but I o= nly get email about the site once a week or so, and often those are specifi= c questions about living in Italy that people hope I can answer. My newslet= ter goes out once a week or so to 350+ people, but I only get a handful of = replies to most issues, and usually from the same people - many of my subsc= ribers have never written to me and I have no clue who they are. best re= gards, Deirdr=E9 Straughan http://www.straughan.com
